HOLY CRAP
Comedy

Dark comedy about three millennials who try to harness the power of social media to save the soul of Australia’s least qualified Archbishop.

Crippled with student debt and unable to find work, Mia Potter, an impulsive and optimistic uni grad, takes a job as a photographer for Archbishop Muntz, a politically incorrect and morally bereft religious leader.

What was supposed to be a cushy, well-paid gig on a whistle-stop tour of rural Australia, quickly spirals out of control as she’s tasked with resurrecting his floundering career. She’s joined on her adventures by Julian Brockhurst, the Archbishop’s dim-witted nephew cum chief of staff and Colin Chen, his methodical and pedantic manservant who’s equal parts caterer, chemist and confidente.

With the odds stacked against them they unite behind the embattled Archbishop; boldly going where they’re not necessarily wanted and taking his unique brand of indifference and tough love to the masses. Or as many of the masses as they can convince to meet with him.

From sexuality, diversity and climate change, to promiscuity and foreign ownership, Holy Crap challenges our cultural identity and serves up a satirical look at Australian society. It takes us behind the headlines and into the beating heart of Australia’s most powerful and dysfunctional religious leader – the Donald Trump of Catholicism. A man who’s terrified of failure and far more interested in ‘Likes’ than the vows he took an oath to uphold.

Holy Crap celebrates all that’s wrong with social media, the fickle nature of millennials and the clash in ideals between a progressive young woman out to force change and a self-absorbed cleric defending a way of life that was laid down in stone 700 years earlier.
